What to know before you go
Request the actual beach names in the itinerary. Check whether each stop is reached by road, foot or boat. Allow a weather alternative for coastal crossings. Share children’s ages and any mobility needs in advance.
A base for the eastern peninsula
Las Galeras and Santa Bárbara de Samaná are different starting points. If you book a trip described simply as “from Samaná”, ask for the precise pickup area. Guests already staying in Las Galeras may prefer an itinerary that maximises nearby coastal time.
Our comparison of Samaná accommodation areas explains the trade-offs between staying here and elsewhere on the peninsula.
Beach hopping or one relaxed stop?
Choose several stops if you enjoy changing scenery and boarding between locations. Choose one main beach if your group prefers a slower pace or includes people who find transfers tiring. Confirm the route rather than assuming all named beaches can be visited comfortably in a short day.
Allow the sea to shape the plan
A coastal route must remain flexible. Ask what substitutes are offered if a crossing or landing is unsuitable, whether the alternative changes the price and when the decision is made. Reserve time for the return instead of scheduling a tight onward connection.
